Your Ultimate Transition?

Scripture teaches in Hebrews 9:27-28, “Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.” You only have this lifetime to discover who God is before you meet him face to face either as your Savior or your Judge. But who is God, what is He like, and what is His relationship with people?

God has clearly revealed to us who He is throughout the scriptures. He has given us almost 800 descriptive words and phrases to better understand who He is, what He is like, and the relationship He desires to have with mankind (you specifically).

Who is God?

He told Moses in Exodus 3:14, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: I AM has sent me to you.” God cries out in Isaiah 45:22, “Turn to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I AM GOD, and there is no other.” Throughout the scriptures, I have found 477 references expounding on His titles as God, the great I AM, The Creator, The Judge, The King, The Lord, The Savior, The Father, The Son, Jesus Christ, The Son of Man, and The Spirit.

What is God like?

I have listed 168 references describing how He is the glorious God, The EternalGod, Faithful, Holy, Mighty, The Sun of Righteousness, and The Rock of Our Salvation.

What is God’s relationship with people?

Learn from 150 references how He is Israel’s God, My God, Our God, Their God, and Your God.

Each group of names has a reference match game where the references are listed on the left in the order they appear in the Bible while the names are numbered in alphabetical order on the right. As you look up each scripture reference, write the number of the appropriate name found in that verse on the line next to the reference. If a verse has more than one name in it, choose the name that would be part of the group you are working on. This was put together using the New International Version of the Bible.

To see the context in which these names were given adds to their power in knowing God more intimately. May your love for God and your relationship with Him deepen as you discover more of Who He is, what He is like, and how He relates to people.
